Navratra mela 2011 begins today at Vindhyachal

Navratra mela 2011 begins today at Vindhyachal, UP. Amid the tightest-ever security around Mata Vindhyavasini temple in Uttar Pradesh, the world famous Vindhyachal navratra mela starts here today expecting approximately 20 lakh devotees to visit. The heightened security cover has been thrown in and around the Goddess Vindhyavasini temple along the lines of security at Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath and Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura with black cat commandos and about 5,000 police personnel, including plain clothes securitymen, PAC, river police and traffic police having been deployed.
In view of recent terrorist attacks at various places in the country, the Uttar Pradesh police have left no stone unturned to ensure smooth 'darshan' of the Goddess during the auspicious Navratra period of Hindus. The devotees from all over the country visit the place, situated on the Vindhya hills, about 300 km from the state capital and about 100 km from the sangam city of Allahabad.
