BSP GS Naresh Agarwal join SP in Uttar Pradesh

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) General Secretary(GS) and Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agarwal today joined the Samajwadi Party along with his son Nitin Agarwal, a sitting member of the Uttar Pradesh assembly, and other family members. The BSP said it had already expelled them for “anti-party activities.”A known party-hopper, Agarwal and his son had joined the BSP in 2008 after resigning from the SP. He had also resigned as an MLA from Hardoi. The BSP had fielded Nitin in the by-election from Hardoi in 2008, which he had won, while Agarwal was sent to the Rajya Sabha. After the BSP decided against fielding Nitin from Hardoi for the 2012 Assembly election earlier this month, the father-son duo were looking for another party.
While joining the SP in the presence of party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, Agarwal said that he had made a mistake by leaving SP, but it had then become a party of film stars and businessmen. He said he never felt free in the BSP where the MLAs were asked to sit at home and not interact with the people. He said he was also resigning from the Rajya Sabha where is term ends in April 2012.
