BSP MLA DP Yadav may join SP

D P Yadav, BSP’s sitting MLA from Sahaswan, Badaun, is ready to join the Samajwadi Party. Earlier the BSP had denied him ticket for the 2012 Assembly elections. Yadav reportedly met Azam Khan late on Friday evening in Rampur in this regard. “He met me yesterday and had a discussion on a number of topics,” said Khan, while talking to The Sunday Express over the phone. “He has already left the BSP and has shown interest in joining the party,” said Khan, adding that if all goes well, Yadav will be inducted in the party soon.
Though Khan maintained that Yadav’s ticket will only be decided after he joins the party, sources in the party said that Yadav may bag a ticket from Moradabad district. Yadav’s return to the SP is seen as the party leadership’s endeavour to strengthen SP’s position in Western Uttar Pradesh, where, except for Azam Khan, the party has lost all other veterans. Earlier this month, Rajya Sabha MP and SP’s old horse Rashid Masood defected to Congress and another veteran Shafiqur Rahman Barq from Moradabad is now BSP MP from Sambhal.
