Samajwadi Party wins UP Election 2012

Samajwadi Party(SP) is all set to form the next government in Uttar Pradesh. Riding on a wave in its favour, the Mulayam Singh-led SP has won/leads more than 200 seats out of the total 403 seats.  Mulayam’s son Akhilesh has already declared that his father would be the next Chief Minister.  Of the others, the BJP’s results/leads are average at 46 seats. But the saffron party is upbeat given the results in its favour in Punjab and Goa; it is in the running in Uttarakhand as well.  However, the biggest upset has been the dismal performance of Congress, especially in Uttar Pradesh. Gandhi family scion Rahul Gandhi had personally micro-managed the poll campaign and had staked his prestige to see his party emerge from its 22-year hibernation in the politically crucial state.  So congrats to Samajwadi Party(SP) & we hope a good governance in UP for upcoming 5 years.
