UP Lokayukta alleges threat from BSP leaders

Uttar Pradesh(UP) Lokayukta, N.K. Mehrotra has written to the state government saying his life was under threat over his recommendation for action against several BSP leaders who were the ministers in the previous Mayawati government. Terming the present security provided at his office as "not up to the mark", Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta has asked the state government to immediately enhance it.
In a letter to Principal Secretary (Home) RM Srivastava, Lokayukta Justice (retd) NK Malhotra pointed out that there were at present only five policemen posted in the office which were not adequate. He demanded that armed guards and metal detectors be installed at three entry points to his office as there was no arrangement to check persons entering with weapons. "The present security is not upto the mark and there should be immediate review to enhance it," the letter said. Mehrotra had called for action against at least two dozen ministers of the then chief minister Mayawati.
