Nearly 54 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the third phase of the urban local bodies elections in 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Barring a few stray incidents of stone pelting the elections were by and large peaceful. Some incidents of stone pelting and clash were reported from Shahjahanpur, Bheem Nagar and Aligarh, sources said. But due to proper security arrangements situation was timely controlled.
Muzaffarnagar had recorded 55.8 per cent polling, Gautam Buddha Nagar 58.13 per cent, Panchsheel Nagar 51.41 per cent, Jyotiba Phule Nagar 57.5 per cent, Bhimnagar 55.22 per cent, Shahjahanpur 51.07 per cent, Aligarh 46.54 per cent, Mainpuri 55.91 per cent, Jalaun 46.59 per cent, Banda 42.63 per cent, Kaushambi 56.07 per cent, Rae Bareli 47.34 per cent, Lakhimpur Kheri 53.44 per cent, Balrampur 50.37 per cent, Sultanpur 47.17 per cent, Siddharthnagar 57.27 per cent, Maharajganj 62.5 per cent, Mau 53.36 per cent, Jaunpur 47.14 per cent, and Mirzapur 43.56 per cent.
