The third case is against private persons for alleged fraudulent receipts of huge amount in the name of Rajasthan Drugs and Pharmaceutical Ltd (RDPL) by opening a bank account in the name of the company and encashment of cheques meant for it, the sources said. "The allegations are of procuring orders under NRHM in the name of a state PSU while the payments received were being diverted to a personal account of the accused," an official concerned with the probe said.

SP opposes reservation in promotion to SC, ST without OBC Reservation

Samajwadi Party (SP) finally makes clear stand and opposes Reservation to SC, ST Category in Promotions when Govt. is all set to bring a Constitution Amendment Bill to help States in providing reservation in promotions to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe employees. However, Samajwadi Party said the move would do injustice to OBCs. Some States are facing legal problems with the Supreme Court striking down reservation in promotions, so the Centre will try to help them. “If need be, the Government will bring a constitutional amendment,” he said. Supporting the move, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati said even her party had asked the government to amend the Constitution to provide the quota. In the meeting, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan also requested the government to bring a bill for the reservation of SCs and STs in promotion of jobs.
Samajwadi Party, which supports the UPA government. The party claimed that the proposed bill would only add to the existing inequality. The Samajwadi Party, which banks on its OBC votebank, is also against the proposal. With this the Congress hopes to tap at least over 45% of the SC and ST votebank in rural areas and over 26% of OBC votebank in rural India. As per TOI Report Samajwadi Party has begun to mount pressure for bringing promotion quota for OBCs. Sources said SP MPs asked OBC parliamentary forum chairman Hanumantha Rao to convene a meeting at the earliest to discuss the issue, failing which the party would take the initiative. "The party is not opposed to reservation in services for Dalits but it is opposed to reservations in promotions as well as consequential seniority. The most objectionable section of the proposed bill is related to seniority. It is this section because of which very junior officers of Dalit category jump to seniority even above those non-SC/ST officers who are 10-15 years senior to them," said SP parliamentary party leader Ram Gopal Yadav. "The result of is far reaching, it will affect the efficiency of the bureaucracy, there will be heartburn among all non-SC/ST officers and employees of the country and the ultimate result will be that in the entire country, after a couple of years not a single officer from the general, OBC or minority community will be at the rank of secretary," he claimed.

No tax on dreaming says Rashid Masood

Reacting to Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's recent prediction of a non-Congress non-BJP Government assuming power at the Centre in 2014, senior Congress leader Rashid Masood has said there is no tax on dreaming. Interacting with media here on Sunday, Masood said that only a secular government can run the country, which, to him, is the Congress party. "There is no tax on dreaming. Mulayam Singh Yadav has every right to dream. Either Congress or BJP will form the government. Only a secular party can run this country, which is Congress. It's Yadav's dream, and the people know it very well," he said.
SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav yesterday said that neither the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nor the Congress would get a majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and the third front parties would be able to muster the numbers for a government. "In the current scenario and emerging equations, neither the BJP nor Congress will get a majority and the third front parties will get major successes in many states," said Mulayam Singh, addressing party workers here.

Mulayam Singh claims to form Govt in 2014

Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday said the present political equations indicate that both Congress and BJP would not be able to get a majority in the 2014 general election. He hinted that third front could form a government. "The present equations indicate that both the national parties- Congress and the BJP- would not be able to get majority and in many states it is the third front which appears to be winning," the former chief minister said.
Uttar Pradesh would play an important role in the coming elections and it is the responsibility of SP workers and leaders to help the party win 60 seats, he said. By winning maximum seats in the Lok Sabha, party would maintain its upper hand, he said adding that "it could also come to power at the Centre." He asked party cadre to maintain decorum and help find solutions to the problems faced by the people.

Why no chargesheet against Shukla in NRHM Scam - HC asks CBI

Allahabad High Court on Thursday asked the CBI why it had not filed a chargesheet against Pradeep Shukla, senior IAS officer and an accused in the NRHM scam, despite getting a go-ahead from the court. Shukla had moved the high court challenging registration of FIRs against him on the ground that the investigating agency should have taken sanction for his prosecution from the Centre since he was an IAS officer. He had cited Section 6-A of the Delhi Police Establishment Act, 1947, in this regard. However, the court turned down the plea and gave CBI the go-ahead to file a chargesheet against Shukla who was arrested in May this year. Four FIRs were lodged against him and he was arrested on the basis of first FIR, which refers to alleged criminal conspiracy among officials of the health and family welfare department, PACCFED and directors of three private firms based in UP.
