Why no chargesheet against Shukla in NRHM Scam - HC asks CBI

Allahabad High Court on Thursday asked the CBI why it had not filed a chargesheet against Pradeep Shukla, senior IAS officer and an accused in the NRHM scam, despite getting a go-ahead from the court. Shukla had moved the high court challenging registration of FIRs against him on the ground that the investigating agency should have taken sanction for his prosecution from the Centre since he was an IAS officer. He had cited Section 6-A of the Delhi Police Establishment Act, 1947, in this regard. However, the court turned down the plea and gave CBI the go-ahead to file a chargesheet against Shukla who was arrested in May this year. Four FIRs were lodged against him and he was arrested on the basis of first FIR, which refers to alleged criminal conspiracy among officials of the health and family welfare department, PACCFED and directors of three private firms based in UP.
