Uttar Pradesh (UP) Minister Vinod Kumar Singh, who was accused of abducting a chief medical officer, has resigned from his post today. A red-faced Akhilesh Yadav government had on Thursday ordered an investigation into the allegations of a chief medical officer (CMO) that he was abducted by Vinod Kumar Singh. Senior minister Parasnath Yadav had said that the state government has ordered a probe into the alleged role of the minister of state for revenue and rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Singh aka Pandit Singh.
The chief medical officer (CMO) of Gonda, SP Singh on Wednesday had lodged a verbal complaint with the district officials alleging that Vinod Kumar Singh intimidated him to "adjust" some favoured doctors in the contract list for the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scheme. But when he refused he was abducted by the minister's henchmen.
