Policeman shot at by students in Meerut

A police constable, trying to pacify two groups of students and wounded was shot at by agitated students in Bhawanpur area of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh. Sub Inspector Anand Pal Rana's precinct received complaints of a fight between students at a hostel in Bhopal Vihar in Meerut. The inspector arrived on the scene and attempted to intervene when a member of the group shot him. The students immediately fled the scene of the crime. Rana was rushed to a local hospital where he is currently in a critical condition. The police say the fight was over a mobile phone bill. They have identified one member of the group, a BTech student has been arrested and is undergoing questioning as per report.
