Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and party Vice President Rahul Gandhi arrived in Muzaffarnagar on a day-long visit to violence affected areas of Uttar Pradesh. "They will stay here for two hours during which they are expected to visit three relief camps where riot-hit people are taking shelter," District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said. After their arrival in Muzaffarnagar around 10:00 AM, they will visit the rural Shahpur locality along with local leaders and administration officials, the District Magistrate said. They are expected to go to relief camps at Basikalan, Tawli and Sanjhak, he said. The area is about 30 km from district headquarters and some camps are still functioning as riot-hit people are staying there. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who visited the district on Sunday, was greeted with black flags and slogan shouting by angry villagers. A strong posse of state policemen and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel will man each and every location in the city during the VVIP visit, official sources said.
